FITCHBURG, Mass. — The Roger Williams University Men's Basketball team earned its third straight victory on Wednesday night, powering past Fitchburg State, 92–78, on the road at Parkinson Gym. The Hawks put together one of their most balanced offensive performances of the season, shooting 49 percent from the field with five players scoring in double figures.
RWU set the tone early, erupting for 49 first-half points while knocking down seven threes and attacking the rim in transition. The Hawks held a 49–40 lead at the break and maintained control throughout the second half, answering every Fitchburg State push with timely scoring and defensive stops. Roger Williams never surrendered its advantage after halftime, using efficient ball movement and depth scoring to close out the win.
Ashton Leclerc (Gorham, Maine) led the way with a team-high 17 points, adding nine rebounds and three made threes in an impressive two-way effort. Philip Sughrue (Winchester, Mass.) followed with 15 points and four assists, going a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line. Finn Miller (Stamford, Mass.) added 12 points in just 18 minutes while grabbing four rebounds and dishing three assists. Ty Higgins (New Marlborough, Mass.) provided a major spark off the bench, scoring 10 points on a flawless 4-of-4 shooting performance, while Owen Boudria (Westport, Mass.) chipped in 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting.
The Hawks' balance was evident as they produced 14 assists on 32 made field goals, while their depth contributed 32 bench points. RWU also capitalized at the free-throw line, converting 16 of 20 attempts and controlling the tempo for much of the game.
Fitchburg State was paced by Jalen Jackson, who recorded a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Joshua Jean Charles added 13 points, while Nicolas Von Zboray tallied 15 off the bench. Despite the Falcons' 46–34 rebounding advantage, Roger Williams' shooting efficiency and defensive pressure forced 11 Fitchburg turnovers, which the Hawks turned into consistent scoring opportunities.
With the 92–78 victory, Roger Williams improves to 6–4 on the season and continues its climb through the nonconference slate with strong momentum.
