Men's Basketball: Hawks Dominate UNE at Home, 115-65

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University men's basketball team putting on a dominant performance, defeating the University of New England at home on Saturday, 115-65, in a lopsided contest.

Roger Williams controlled the game from the start, leading 52-26 at halftime and extending their lead with a 63-point second half. The Hawks' offense was firing on all cylinders, shooting 52.6% from the field and 50% from three-point range (24-of-48). Freshman guard Ryan Higgins (Boston, Mass.) led the way with 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting, including six three-pointers. Senior Will MacDonald (York, Maine) and graduate student Mac Annus (Belmont, Mass.) each added 16 points, while sophomore Joey Dwyer (Pembroke, Mass.) contributed 11 points and five assists. The Hawks' ball movement was a key factor, recording 31 assists on 40 made field goals.

UNE struggled offensively, shooting 34.7% from the field and just 22.7% from beyond the arc. Jack Pzyzynski led the Nor'easters with 20 points, while Adrian Torres added 11 points, five rebounds, and two assists. The team had difficulty finding open looks against the Hawks' defense, finishing with just 10 assists on 25 made shots.

Defensively this game, the Hawks forced 17 turnovers and recorded nine steals, disrupting UNE's offensive rhythm. They also held a 47-41 rebounding advantage and blocked four shots. As for UNE, despite recording 11 steals, they struggled to contain the Hawks' high-powered offense. The Nor'easters allowed 24 three-pointers by the Hawks, making it difficult for them to close the gap.

Roger Williams (17-8, 12-6 CNE) will now look to Tuesday, Feb 25th where they will host Nichols College at home for the First Round of the Conference of New England tournament at 5:30 pm.
