Men’s Lacrosse: Hawks Pick Up CNE Victory Over Gordon

WENHAM, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Men's Lacrosse team defeated Conference of New England (CNE) opponent Gordon, 15-3, on Tuesday afternoon at the Brigham Athletic Complex.
 
Roger Williams outshot the Fighting Scots 55-27, with 36 shots landing on net, while RWU cleared 19-of-21 attempts, with Gordon completing 16-of-29 attempts. The Hawks had 40 ground balls in the matchup.
 
Eric Brooks led the charge offensively for the Hawks scoring four goals with two assists for six points. Jack Kester and Matt Hemmert each had three points, with Hemmert scoring two goals. Defensively, Kyle Zirn had seven caused turnovers in the contest, to expand his program record, with Eric Izzo causing five, with eight ground balls. Aaron D'Aversa had 10 saves in the win, while allowing two goals.
 
Jackson Wright and Caden Lake each had two points, with Wright scoring a pair of points. Ryan Arthur had a goal in the game. William McCormick had two caused turnovers, along with Thomas De haes also having a pair. Aidan Walsh went 12-for-21 in faceoff attempts with nine ground balls.
 
Gordon struck first scoring, with Wright finding a way past D'Aversa.  Roger Williams responded with a 3-0 run to end the first quarter, with Brooks scoring a pair with Hemmert adding one.  The Run continued until the 9:53 mark in the third quarter, as Brady Lee capped off an 11-0 run with a goal.  
 
Wright scored on a man up opportunity, but the Hawks again rattled off four straight to take a commanding lead in the game, as Arthur added a tally for Gordon in the final seconds.
 
Roger Williams (6-6, 2-1 CNE) will be back in action on Wednesday, Apr. 9 at 4:00 pm as they host Endicott.  The Hawks will then host Western New England on Saturday, Apr. 12 at 3:00 pm.
