Baseball: Gulls Complete Sweep Over Hawks, in 7 Innings

BEVERLY, Mass. — Roger Williams University was unable to recover from an early deficit as #3/4 Endicott College secured an 11-1 victory in the second game of Sunday's Conference of New England (CNE) doubleheader at North Field.

Endicott (30-3, 14-0 CCC) jumped ahead with a three-run first inning and never looked back, scoring in five of their six offensive innings. Senior Danny MacDougall led the way for Endicott, going 2-for-4 with two home runs, three runs scored and two RBIs. John Mulready also provided a major spark with a three-run triple in the first inning and a solo home run in the third.

Roger Williams struggled to generate offense against Endicott starter Evan Scully, who improved to 7-0 with a strong performance. Scully allowed just four hits and one earned run over 5.1 innings, striking out four.

The Hawks' lone run came in the sixth inning when Noah Hester doubled and later scored on an error. Hester was one of the bright spots for Roger Williams, finishing 2-for-4 with a double.

Jonathan Quinn (3-2) took the loss for the Hawks, allowing four runs in 2.1 innings before giving way to the bullpen. Endicott's offense put the game out of reach with a six-run fourth inning, highlighted by a grand slam from Robbie Wladkowski.

Roger Williams (12-19, 5-9 CNE) will host Salve Regina on Tuesday, Apr. 29 at 3:30 PM before hosting UMass Dartmouth on Thursday, May 1. The Hawks will round out the regular season on Saturday, May, 3 when they host Western New England.
