BRISTOL, R.I. - On Senior Day at Paolino Field in Bristol, R.I., Roger Williams secured a 7–3 victory over Western New England in game one of Wednesday's, before falling in extra innings in game two, 5-3. The Hawks honored three seniors, Jamie Wells, Caroline Thomas, and Kelsey Burr. All three seniors recorded a hit across the doubleheader
Junior pitcher Raegen Germano earned the complete-game victory in game one, improving to 8–6 on the season, while Western New England's Ava Blanchart took the loss, falling to 8–4. In game two, Riley Kane secured the complete-game win pushing her to 9-9, while Keira Quadros took the loss, moving her to 7-5 on the season.
In game one, Roger Williams opened the scoring in the bottom of the first with an unearned run and took control in the sixth, plating five runs to break a 2–2 tie. Caroline Thomas would deliver a go-ahead solo home run, the first of her career, while a Christina Denovellis' RBI double and Jamie Wells' RBI single helped add some insurance. Denovellis finished 3-for-3 with two RBIs, and Wells went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Hailey Williams also had a standout game, going 2-for-4 with a two-run double in the sixth. For Western New England, Alex Ferriouolo and Ava Barnhart each hit solo home runs, accounting for two of their three runs. Riley Kane went 2-for-3 with an RBI, but the offense managed just five hits off Germano, who struck out six without issuing a walk.
In game two, Western New England jumped out to an early lead, scoring three runs across the first two innings, with RBIs from Marley Rodriguez, Angelees Carrasquillo, and Riley Kane. After being held scoreless through five innings Roger Williams stormed back in the seventh with three-runs, highlighted by a Lucy Maurao RBI single and a Shannon Starratt game-tying triple. Western New England would respond in the eighth as Rodriguez would drive in the go-ahead run and Carrasquillo would add insurance with an RBI bunt. For the Golden Bears, Rodriguez finished 2-for-5 with two RBIs, while Shea McDaniel went 3-for-5 with a double and a run. For Roger Williams, Starratt went 3-for-4 with an RBI and Maurao added a hit and an RBI.
Following the split doubleheader, Roger Williams moves to 20-15 overall and 11-7 in Conference of New England play. They will be back in action on Thursday in Providence, R.I. to take on Rhode Island College in a non-conference battle.
