BIDDEFORD, Maine — The Roger Williams University Men's Basketball team earned a hard-fought 84–79 Conference of New England (CNE) victory over the University of New England on Saturday afternoon.
Roger Williams set the tone early with an efficient offensive first half, shooting 53.1 percent from the field to take a 40–35 lead into the break. In the second half, the Hawks shot 53.6 percent from the field and went 11-of-13 from the free-throw line to close out the game, reclaiming the lead for good midway through the period and never relinquishing it down the stretch.
Finn Miller (Stamford, Conn.) led the Hawks with 19 points, seven rebounds, and four assists, shooting 7-of-15 from the floor and a perfect 5-for-5 at the free-throw line. Ashton Leclerc (Gorham, Maine) followed with 15 points on 50.0 percent shooting, while Ryan Higgins (Boston, Mass.) added 11 points and snagged five rebounds. Joey Dwyer (Pembroke, Mass.) contributed nine points, and Adam Flauto (Whitinsville, Mass.) and Owen Boudria (Westport, Mass.) chipped in eight and seven points, respectively, as RWU's bench totaled 26 points.
Roger Williams finished the game shooting 53.3 percent overall and held a narrow 36–35 edge on the glass. Defensively, the Hawks forced 15 turnovers and recorded nine steals, limiting UNE's ability to generate sustained momentum. RWU consistently attacked the paint and capitalized in transition, scoring 56 points in the paint and 21 fast-break points on the afternoon.
UNE was led by Adam Lux with 20 points on an efficient 5-of-6 shooting performance, while Adrian Torres and Jayden Thornton each scored 13 points. The Nor'easters knocked down 11 three-pointers but were unable to overcome RWU.
