BEVERLY, Mass. — Roger Williams University first-year midfielder Mikayla Hanel (Ridgefield, Conn.) has been named the Conference of New England Field Hockey Rookie of the Week following a strong two-game stretch for the Hawks.

Hanel Posts Four-Point Performance Against Gordon

Hanel opened the week with a four-point performance in the Hawks' 6-0 victory at Gordon College on Sept. 30. The first-year midfielder scored twice, finishing with four points while putting all four of her shots on goal.

Strong Follow-Up Against Nichols

Hanel followed up her performance against Gordon with another strong showing against Nichols College on Oct. 3. She recorded five shot attempts, including one shot on goal.

First CNE Weekly Honor

The Rookie of the Week honor marks Hanel's first Conference of New England weekly award of the season. The Ridgefield, Conn., native has continued to make an impact in her first season with the Hawks.

The Hawks return to action Tuesday, Oct. 6, when they host UMass Dartmouth at 7 p.m. at Bayside Field.
