BEVERLY, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Men's Lacrosse team fell to Endicott, 19-3, on Saturday afternoon in Conference of New England (CNE) action in Hempstead Stadium.
Endicott controlled the tempo throughout the contest, outshooting the Hawks 54-19 and holding a 32-10 advantage in shots on goal. The Gulls also dominated the ground ball battle, 59-38, while going 26-for-27 on clear attempts compared to Roger Williams' 15-for-38. The Hawks held a slight edge in faceoffs, going 13-of-25
Brady Lee (Mattapoisett, Mass.) and Reece Moore (Marblehead, Mass.) each found the back of the net for the Hawks. Moore led the way offensively with two goals, while Lee tallied a goal and Carter Shelton (Castle Rock, Colo.) had an assist. Leo Anthony (Scituate, Mass.) recorded an assist and went 8-for-15 at the faceoff dot with three ground balls.
Defensively, Kyle Zirn (Chester, N.H.) led Roger Williams with five ground balls and two caused turnovers, while Aaron D'Aversa (Sea Cliff, N.Y.) added four ground balls.
In goal, Logan Dudley (Jericho, Vt.) made four saves in the first half, while D'Aversa saw extended action, stopping nine shots.
Endicott was paced by Nick Graap, who tallied six goals and one assist for seven points. Chris Hughes added seven points on three goals and four assists, while Tommy Tyksinski (two goals, one assist) and Manny Marshall (two goals, three assists) each contributed five points. Travis Foster led the Gulls at the faceoff X, going 12-for-22 with five ground balls.
Roger Williams struck first just two seconds into the contest, as Lee scored off the opening faceoff to give the Hawks an early 1-0 lead. Endicott responded quickly, scoring four goals in the opening quarter to take a 4-1 lead after one.
The Gulls continued to build momentum in the second quarter, using a seven-goal frame to extend their advantage to 11-2 heading into halftime.
Moore scored early in the period off a feed from Anthony, but Endicott maintained control throughout the half.
In the third quarter, Moore added his second goal of the game, finishing off a pass from Shelton, but the Gulls continued to answer, extending their lead further.
Endicott closed out the contest with a six-goal fourth quarter, holding the Hawks scoreless in the final frame to secure the conference victory.
Roger Williams (3-7, 1-1 CNE) will play host to Wentworth on Tuesday, Mar. 31 at 7:00 pm. The Hawks will then travel to take on another CNE foe in Western New England on Friday, Apr. 3, at 7:00 pm in Springfield.
