BEVERLY, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Men's Lacrosse team saw its season come to an end on Wednesday evening, falling to top-seeded Endicott, 14–7, at Hempstead Stadium in their CNE Semifinal tilt.
Endicott jumped out to an early advantage, scoring three times in the opening quarter to take control. The Hawks responded in the second when Carter Shelton (Castle Rock, Colo.) got Roger Williams on the board off a feed from Brady Lee (Mattapoisett, Mass.), but the Gulls continued to build their lead, heading into halftime with a 6–1 edge.
Roger Williams found momentum in the third quarter, beginning to chip away at the deficit. Shelton added his second goal of the game, while Joe Castelli (Reading, Mass.) converted on a man-up opportunity, and Lee found the back of the net late in the period. Despite the surge, Endicott maintained separation heading into the fourth.
In the final frame, the Hawks continued to score as Eric Izzo (Northford, Conn.) and Shelton each scored, and Caleb McKeown (Plymouth, Mass.) added a late goal off a Shelton assist. However, Endicott answered with four goals of its own to seal the 14–7 result.
Shelton led the Hawks with three goals and one assist, while Lee and McKeown each recorded a goal and an assist. Harrison Steffens (Fairfield, Conn.) and Connor Russell (West Hartford, Conn.) each contributed two assists in the effort.
Endicott was led by Nick Graap, who tallied eight goals, as the Gulls controlled possession and held advantages in shots and faceoffs throughout the contest.
Roger Williams closes their season with a 9-10 record on the year, while posting a 6-3 record within the CNE.
