BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Baseball team dropped a close Conference of New England (CNE) matchup to Endicott, 2–1, on Tuesday afternoon at Paolino Field., in a matchup that saw the opposing pitchers control play.
For the Gulls, Evan Scully opened the game, throwing 3.0 innings while holding the Hawks to three hits, and one walk, while Ben Gill earned the win to move to 5-1 on the season with a 2.0 inning performance that saw the Hawks only record two hits.

Matthew Donovan, starting the game and throwing 4.1 innings, before being taken out, allowing on erun with five hits, and a pair of walks, with four strikeouts.
Daniel McDonnell came in in relief, finishing the contest with 4.2 innings of work, three hits and four strikeouts.
Roger Williams threatened in the opening frame when Noah Hester (Old Saybrook, Conn.) singled and Braden Ventura (Swansea, Mass.) was hit by a pitch, followed by a walk to Sam Arcieri (Warwick, R.I.) to load the bases. However, Endicott worked out of the jam to keep the Hawks off the scoreboard early.
Endicott struck first in the top of the second inning. After a pair of singles put runners in scoring position, a wild pitch allowed Cade Bernardo to cross the plate and give the Gulls an early 1–0 lead.
The Hawks broke through in the fifth, as Devin Driscoll (Portsmouth, N.H.) reached base on a throwing error and advanced into scoring position after Luke Miele (Wellesley, Mass.) through the left side of the infield. With two runners on, Arcieri put the ball in play and brought Driscoll home on a fielder's choice, hitting the ball to the second baseman, to tie the game at 1–1.
Endicott regained the lead in the sixth inning. Brenden Walsh led off with a single and later moved into scoring position before Trevor Kamuda lifted a sacrifice fly to right field, allowing Walsh to score the go-ahead run.
Roger Williams continued to apply pressure late in the game. In the seventh inning, Hester reached on a fielding error and stole second before Ventura drew a walk to put two runners on base. However, the Gulls escaped the threat with a pop-up to first base.
The Hawks had one final opportunity in the ninth when Driscoll worked a walk with one out, but Endicott closed the door with two consecutive outs to secure the 2–1 victory.
At the plate, Miele, Hester, Ventura, Will Florio (San Jose, Calif.) and Jack Tubman (Bellingham, Mass.) each recorded a hit for the Hawks.
For the Gulls, Bernardo led the offensive effort with a pair of hits, going 2-for-5 in the outing, while Kamuda recorded the lone RBI for Endicott with the sacrifice fly, scoring the game winner.
