Baseball: Four Hawks Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

BRISTOL, R.I. – Four members of the Roger Williams University Baseball team have been named to the 2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, recognizing their achievements in the classroom and on the diamond.

Senior outfielder Noah Hester (Old Saybrook, Conn.), junior utility player Casey DeLorenzo (East Greenwich, R.I.), junior first baseman Will Florio (San Jose, Calif.), and junior pitcher Matthew Donovan (Stoneham, Mass.) each earned the distinction for the Hawks.

The CSC Academic All-District program honors student-athletes who excel both academically and athletically. To be eligible, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average, be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, and meet sport-specific participation requirements.

A finance major, Hester capped off an outstanding senior campaign by leading Roger Williams with a .364 batting average while starting 37 games. He paced the Hawks with 51 hits and 36 runs scored, adding 25 RBIs and a .474 on-base percentage. Hester also swiped seven bases and ranked among the team's leaders in multiple offensive categories.

DeLorenzo, also a finance major, made an impact as one of the Hawks' most versatile student-athletes during the 2026 season. At the plate, he batted .333 with 38 hits, 20 runs scored, and 22 RBIs in 35 appearances. He also contributed on the mound, posting a 3-3 record while striking out 37 batters over 38.2 innings pitched.

Florio, who is pursuing his MBA in Business Administration, continued to be a steady presence in the middle of the Roger Williams lineup, starting all 34 games in which he appeared. The Hawks' first baseman hit .271 with a team-high 36 RBIs and six home runs while compiling a .473 slugging percentage. Defensively, Florio posted a .986 fielding percentage with 203 putouts and helped anchor the Hawks' infield throughout the season.

A management major, Donovan emerged as one of Roger Williams' top starting pitchers, leading the Hawks' regular starters with a 4.10 earned run average. The junior made 10 appearances with eight starts, recording a 3-3 record and 36 strikeouts across 41.2 innings. Donovan also registered a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in his opportunities on the mound.

The quartet met the rigorous athletic standards required for CSC Academic All-District recognition. Position players must either compete in at least 90 percent of their team's games or start in at least 66 percent of contests, while pitchers must make at least 17 appearances or throw a minimum of 35 innings.
