BRISTOL, R.I. — Roger Williams University women's golfer Ximena Trevino Romero (Tampico, Mexico) was named the Conference of New England Golfer and Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office.

Trevino Romero earned both honors after capturing individual medalist honors at the season-opening Fighting Scots Shootout on Saturday at Wenham Country Club.

She topped the 20-player field with a 78 (+13) on the par-65 course. Trevino Romero opened with a 36 on the front nine to take a three-stroke lead before carding a 42 on the back nine. She finished one stroke ahead of Gordon College's Addyson Peterson, who placed second with a 79 (+14).
