Meaghan Blais will begin her second season as Head Coach of the Field Hockey program for the upcoming 2018 season.
 
Blais was appointed Head Coach in 2017 after spending four seasons as the Assistant Coach under former head coach Tracey Hackley since the program’s inception in 2013.
 
Blais has assisted in the progress of the young program since becoming an assistant coach in 2013. She helped guide the Field Hockey team to its best season in its young history in 2015 with eight wins in its third year of existence. The team competed in Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament competition for the first time, advancing to the CCC Semifinals. In addition, the team had three Hawks chosen to the All-CCC Second Team, the most selections in program history.
 
In 2014, the Field Hockey team earned seven wins in the program’s second year of varsity competition. In addition, the team earned its first-ever Commonwealth Coast Conference victory, while Meghan Curran became RWU’s first All-CCC Selection.
 
In the program’s inaugural season, the team won first-ever varsity win on August 31, 2013 with a 2-1 win over Bay Path College in the first game played as a varsity program. The team would close out the season with five wins on the year, finishing in 7th place in the Commonwealth Coast Conference and receiving the Team Sportsmanship Award at the conclusion of the year.
 
Blais has extensive playing experience, having spent four seasons as a defender on the Daniel Webster College Field Hockey team. She was a two-time team captain and a two-time team MVP. She was named to the All-New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) First Team twice in her career. During the 2010 season, she helped lead the Eagles to the NECC regular season and tournament championship, as well as an ECAC Division III Field Hockey Tournament berth.
 
Blais has also has experience coaching at the North Kingstown High School Field Hockey Camp, having assisted with coaching for three summers.
 
Blais graduated in 2013 for Daniel Webster with a degree in Sport Management and a minor in Marketing.
