Edward Silva returns as head coach of the Ice Hockey team at Roger Williams. He graduated from New Bedford High School in Massachusetts in 1990 where he was a two sport athlete, participating in both baseball and hockey. While at New Bedford, he was a CYO All Star for hockey as well as being honored with the most improved award his senior year.

Silva has hockey experience dating back to 1982 when he began his youth hockey career. He began coaching in 1995, leading several youth hockey teams from the Squirt C level up to the Midget A level. From 2000 to 2005, he ran several different skill sessions for the Hetland Panthers. From 2004 on, Silva has been a USA Hockey Level 3 Official. In March of 2010, he completed the NIHOA Referee Seminar, adding to his knowledge of the game.

Silva’s goal is to provide a hard working disciplined atmosphere that allows players to learn the game of hockey and become strong leaders on and off the ice. He strives on teaching good sportsmanship and teamwork.

In addition to coaching at Roger Williams, Silva works as a Commonwealth of Massachusetts Court Officer, which he has been doing since 2006. He currently resides in Acushnet, Massachusetts with his wife Kim, and his children Ryan and Halle.
