Ed Kirby returns for his eighth season as Head Coach of the Men’s Golf program.
 
In his first season with the Hawks, Kirby guided RWU to a solid year. The Hawks had a successful fall in four competitions, including a runner-up finish at the Mass. College of Liberal Arts Invitational. The team qualified for the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship after finishing fourth at the CCC qualifier. In the spring, the team tied for third at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational and placed fourth overall at the CCC Championship. Two of Kirby’s golfers were named to the All-CCC Team, including Ben DeFelice as CCC Rookie of the Year.
 
Kirby serves as the golf pro at the Aquidneck Club in Portsmouth. In addition to his duties at the Aquidneck Club, Kirby is also the Director of Instruction at Point Judith Country Club in Narragansett. Prior to that, he was the PGA Head Golf Professional at Alpine Country Club in Cranston for 13 years. As the golf pro, Kirby provided golf instruction to all membership classifications, as well as conducting junior programs with instruction and on-course participation.
 
Before his time at Alpine Country Club, Kirby ran The Clubhouse in Johnston as a teaching professional for five years.
 
Kirby was also a member of the PGA Tour in 1994 and was a four-time US Open participant. He was the 2012 NEPGA Champion and the 2012 NEPGA Player of the Year, as well as the 2012 and 2014 RIPGA Chapter Champion and the 2013 NEPGA Senior Champion. In addition, he qualified for the 2014 and 2015 Senior PGA Championship.
