Danny Downes will be joining the staff in the 2017-18 season. Downes will be finishing his last semester at RWU as he wraps up his degree in Construction Management. He was a Region Champion at 149 pounds and a NCAA Qualifier in the 2015-16 season. Downes was a two-time All-Region wrestler for the Hawks and finished with 105 wins. He was also named an Academic All-American in his freshman year. He also contributed to three New England dual meet titles with the Hawks.

Prior to coming to Roger Williams, Downes was a two-time state champion for Saint Mark's high school located in Wilmington, Delaware.

Downes was born and raised in Elkton, Maryland. Upon graduation, he plans to work for Hensel Phelps construction company located in Chantilly, Virginia.
