BRISTOL, R.I.- Freshman baseball player Zach Porter (Middleboro, Mass.) has been selected Roger Williams Male Athlete of the Week for his stellar play in the ECAC Division III New England Tournament.  Porter was named the team's Most Outstanding Player after the Hawks claimed the ECAC title in an 11-3 win over Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Sunday's championship game.

Porter was an offensive force in both of the Hawks' ECAC games. He batted 2-for-3 with 5 RBIs and a three-run home run in Saturday's 7-1 defeat of Brandeis, then went on to bat 3-for-4 on Sunday with a two-run home run in the eight inning.

Porter has had a successful rookie season with Roger Williams, batting .337 with a .615 slugging percentage.  He totaled 7 home runs, tying him for the statistical lead on the team.  He started in 32 games and saw action at both third base and left field.

Roger Williams finishes the 2008 season with a 34-12 record (21-2 TCCC).
