Lisa Vogeley enters her fifth season as Head Coach for the Women’s Lacrosse program.
This past season, Vogeley led the Hawks to another stellar season, finishing the year at 13-4 while clinching the #2 seed and a first-round bye for the Commonwealth Coast Conference tournament. The Hawks rolled to an 18-3 win over the University of New England to make its way to the CCC Championship for the fourth straight year. Vogeley coached eight Hawks to All-CCC honors, including junior Kaelin Hogan being named CCC Offensive Player of the Year. In addition, Hogan along with Kimberly Bolk were named to the IWLCA All-Pilgrim Region Second Team.
In 2016, Vogeley guided the Hawks to its best season in program history. The team tied a school record with 15 wins, as well as completing its first-ever undefeated regular season in the CCC, going 8-0 in conference play. The Hawks earned the top seed in the CCC Tournament, winning its first conference championship in program history with a 16-7 win over Endicott and advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the first time. Nine Hawks made the All-CCC team, including CCC Offensive Player of the Year McKenna Everding and CCC Rookie of the Year Emily Stoeppel. In addition, Vogeley was honored as CCC Coach of the Year.
The previous year saw the Hawks finished the year second in the CCC with a 7-1 record while advancing to the CCC Championship game for the second straight year. Vogeley’s Hawks put eight players on the All-CCC team, including freshman Kaelin Hogan being honored as CCC Rookie of the Year. In addition, the team earned its first NCAA regional ranking in program history, reaching as high as #10 in New England.
In her first season, Vogeley guided the team through a rough start to the season to a strong finish. The team closed out the regular season on a four-game winning streak to earn the #4 seed for the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament. After defeating the University of New England in the CCC Quarterfinals, Vogeley coached the Hawks to a 19-11 upset over top-seeded and undefeated Western New England to earn their first berth to the CCC Championship game since 2010. The Hawks battled Endicott valiantly to the last minute, but unfortunately fell to the Gulls 14-15 on a literal last-second goal. Under Vogeley, five players were named to the All-CCC team including Kelsey Rahilly who was named as an ECAC All-Star, finishing the season ranked third in the country with 72 assists and breaking the single-season school record for assists and points (104).
Vogeley arrived at Roger Williams University having spent the past three seasons as an assistant coach at NCAA Division I Saint Mary’s College of California. During her time at Saint Mary’s, she helped develop the stickwork and skills of all members of the team, working primarily with the defense and the goalkeepers. In addition, she assisted Head Coach Lauren Uhr with organizing, planning, and executing practice plans, and game strategies. She was responsible for assembling and preparing scouting video and scouting reports for upcoming opponents as well.
In her three years at Saint Mary’s, she coached five athletes who received All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation honors, 15 athletes who received the MPSF All-Academic Award, having the 2011 and 2012 teams earn the IWLCA All-Academic Team award, and mentored an athlete who set a single-season school record for draw controls (75). In addition, the 2012 squad ranked fourth in the nation among all NCAA Division I programs for caused turnovers per game, averaging 10.67 a contest.
Vogeley also has coaching experience at the high school level, coaching in 2009 and 2010 at Monte Vista High School. Her teams won the North Coast Section Championships in 2009 and 2010 and received the No. 1 ranking by LaxPower.com and westsidelax.com. The team was ranked as high as #59 in the nation and compiled a 42-4 record over two seasons. The lacrosse team won two East Bay Athletic League titles, going undefeated in conference play in each season.
Vogeley was a four-year letterwinner on the St. Mary’s Women’s Lacrosse team, being named as a team captain in three of her four seasons. During her time with the Gaels, she made 57 career starts, the fourth highest total in school history.
She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sports Management in 2007 and earned her Master’s in Kinesiology in 2009, also at Saint Mary's.
