Two more wins for Baseball

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Baseball team swept a doubleheader against Colby-Sawyer College Saturday afternoon, taking the first game 12-1 and the second by a 9-3 score.
 
The Hawks struck first, picking up three runs in the second. Zach Porter (Middleboro, Mass.) hit a two-run homer to right center to give the Hawks the lead. Grant Bolin (Simsbury, Conn.) followed with a home run of his own two batters later.
 
RWU came away with three more runs in the next inning off of the bats of Bill Lambert (Hanover, Mass.), Jamie Dahill (S. Boston, Mass.), and Porter. Riley Kingery (Metter, Ga.) added two runs in the sixth after sending a shot over the fence in right center.
 
The Charger offense was held in check by Mike Malcolm (Brockton, Mass.), who scattered seven hits in seven innings. The lone run for Colby-Sawyer came in the sixth inning when Tom White (Lisbon, N.H.) scored on an infield hit by Shane Hoagboon (Mayfield, N.Y.).
 
Porter finished 2-for-4 with two runs and four RBI. Kingery and Lambert each had two hits and two RBI. For the Chargers, Kris Ramsay (Gardiner, Mass) picked up two hits in three at-bats.
 
Billy Dunn (Fiskdale, Mass.) gave the Hawks an early lead in the second game with a three-run homer in the second inning. The Chargers got one of the runs back when Jarrett Lowe (Sudbury, Mass.) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, bringing in Chris Hartery (Billerica, Mass.).
 
Trailing 4-1 in the sixth inning, Colby-Sawyer scored twice in the frame to pull within one, but the Hawks put the game out of reach with a five-run inning in the seventh.
 
Alex Perry (Glastonbury, Conn.) earned his first win of the year, giving up a run on five hits in four innings while striking out four. Dunn had a 2-for-2 performance with four RBI and three runs scored. Hartery and Chris Gaeta (Lynn, Mass.) each had two hits for the Chargers in the game.
 
Roger Williams (17-8, 9-1 TCCC) travel tomorrow to Endicott College for a 12:00 p.m. game, while Colby-Sawyer (8-14, 5-7 TCCC) travels down the road to play Salve Regina University tomorrow at noon.
