Men’s Soccer second half PK sinks Eastern Nazarene, 1-0

QUINCY, Mass. - A foul in the penalty area at the 77th minute led Roger Williams' Justin Plourde (Concord, N.H.) to the penalty spot for the game winner over Eastern Nazarene in The Commonwealth Coast Conference match up Saturday afternoon at Quincy's Veterans Memorial Stadium.

In a rain soaked game, the Hawks and Lions managed to keep the ball under control, not letting the elements effect their play too much.  Keeper's Andrew Trice (Quincy, Mass.) of Eastern Nazarene and Peter Plate (Commack, N.Y.) of Roger Williams, turned away critical shots to keep the game knotted at 0-0 until the final 12 minutes when a Hawk pass into the Lions penalty area made it to a teammates foot, who was then clipped down from the ankle for the game winning penalty shot.

The Hawks held the advantage in shots, 8-7, and corners, 4-3.

Roger Williams University lifts their record to 9-3, 5-1 in the TCCC, while Eastern Nazarene falls to 0-11, 0-6 in the TCCC.

The two teams pick up TCCC play next Tuesday, October 6th at home.  Eastern Nazarene hosting New England College at 4:30 pm and Roger Williams hosting Nichols College at 4:00 pm.
