CHANDLER, Ariz. – The Roger Williams University Baseball team earned a sweep against Keene State College Thursday afternoon, winning 10-7 in the first game and 7-5 in the second.
The Hawks started out the game strong, sending ten batters to the plate and scoring six runs in the inning. From there, the team never trailed, earning the win.
Brian Hurld (South Boston, Mass.) picked up the win, pitching 4.1 innings in the decision. Grant Bolin (Simsbury, Conn.) went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, and four RBI. Kevin Simpson (Londonderry, N.H.) had a 2-for-4 performance with a double, three RBI and a run scored. Alex Perry (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Zach Porter (Middleboro, Mass.) each had two hits in the game.
In the second game, the Hawks scored six runs in the second inning to give James Lydon (Calverton, N.Y.) all the support he would need. Lydon got the win, giving up one earned run in four innings. Billy Dunn (Fiskdale, Mass.) picked up his third save of the season. Jamie Dahill (South Boston, Mass.) was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI, while Bolin was 1-for-2 with a double, two RBI, and two runs scored.
Roger Williams (4-3) will continue play in Arizona with a Friday game against MIT.
