Grant Bolin’s walk-off home run gives Baseball win over MIT

CHANDLER, Ariz. – Grant Bolin (Simsbury, Conn.) pushed the Roger Williams University Baseball team to a 9-7 win over the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Friday afternoon with a game-winning two run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning.

The Hawks were down 7-3 after seven innings before tying the game at seven apiece with four runs in the eighth inning. Entering the bottom of the ninth, Zach Porter (Middleboro, Mass.) found his way on base via a walk with one out. Bolin came up to the plate with the go-ahead run on base and sent the Hawks home with a win with a walk-off home run, his third of the season.

PJ Gouthro (Walpole, Mass.)  earned the win after coming on in relief in the top of the ninth and holding the Engineers scoreless with a 1-2-3 inning.

Bolin finished the game 2-for-3 with a pair of walks along with the winning home run. Porter also added two hits in the game, scoring the game-winning run.

Roger Williams (5-3) will conclude its Arizona Spring Break Trip Saturday with a doubleheader against the University of Southern Maine.
