Volleyball rolls to 3-0 victory over Suffolk

BOSTON, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Volleyball team stepped out of conference play Tuesday evening and earned a 3-0 win over Suffolk University.

 

The Hawks kept the pressure on the Rams all match long, winning two of the three sets by large margins. RWU opened the match with a decisive 25-10 win, followed by a closer 25-20 win. In the third and final game of the match, the Hawks clinched the win by taking the game 25-12.

 

Senior Kristina Dolan (Glenmont, N.Y.) led the Hawks with 14 kills on 26 swings with only two errors. Senior Caryn Lecca (Ludlow, Mass.) had a team-high 12 assists in two games, while freshman Emily Lebowitz (Coventry, Conn.) added eight assists in one game of play.

 

Junior Jill Hurd (Sunapee, N.H.) led the Hawks with four service aces and seven digs. Freshman Kelsee Loche (Millis, Mass.) contributed six digs of her own.

 

“We tried a couple of new lineups, which worked really well for us,” said Head Coach Bret Stothart.” The team played well together and played at a high level throughout the match.”

 

Roger Williams (7-6) continues its non-conference slate with a tri-match on Saturday at Wheaton College, where the Hawks will face Wheaton at 11:00 a.m. and Trinity College at 1:00 p.m.
