Two difficult goals leads Men's Soccer past Colby-Sawyer

BRISTOL, R.I.Liam Isleib (Killingworth, Conn.) and Andres Daza (Farmington, Conn.) of the Roger Williams University Men's Soccer team scored the only goals of the game Wednesday, shutting out Colby-Sawyer College 2-0 in a Commonwealth Coast Conference game.

At the 14:32 mark, Isleib shot past the Chargers' goalie Chris Feltes (Manchester, N.H.), achieving the first goal of the day. After the Chargers failed to clear the ball out of the defensive end, Isleib gained control of the ball off his chest, let it bounce once and fired it into the back of the net

#D.J. Hunter# (Middletown, Conn.) and Bradley Macdonald (Topsfield, Mass.) put further pressure on Colby-Sawyer, each challenging Feltes with shots on goal. The Chargers attempted five shots in the first half, two of which were on goal yet Hawk goalie Peter Plate (Commack, N.Y.) was able to make the saves.

Ten minutes into the second half, freshman Daza attained his first goal of the season on a heads up play. It appeared that he would serve the ball into the box, but he put his best foot behind it and ripped the ball into the upper left corner from 45 yards out. Jared Falconer (Ludlow, Mass.) kept the pressure on the Charger defense with persistent tries at goal up until the end of the game, firing three shots in the half against Feltes that were all saved.

“We got two individual great shots,” said Head Coach Jim Cook. “They were tough shots and they hit the ball perfectly.”

Roger Williams (8-3-0, 4-1-0 TCCC) is getting ready to defeat Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Massachusetts at 10:30 a.m. Saturday October third. Also October 3rd, Colby-Sawyer (1-7-0, 0-5-0 TCCC) will be competing against Gordon College at 2:30 p.m. on their home turf in a  TCCC matchup.
