BRISTOL, R.I. – Coming off a season in which they took their second conference title and made their second appearance in the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament, Roger Williams University saw six members selected for the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.
In order to qualify for the team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, and hold a 3.50 cumulative GPA without rounding up. The student-athlete must also compete in 90 percent of the institution's matches or start in 66 percent of the team's games.
The Hawks saw Eliot Panaccione (Pepperell, Mass.), Max Patenaude (Pepperell, Mass.), Dylan Robbins (Johnston, R.I.), Ollie Hamilton (North Chittenden, Vt.), Noah Massotti (Douglas, Mass.), and Liam Blaisdell (Plymouth, Mass.) honored with the honor.
Panaccione, the CNE Goalkeeper of the Year, tallied an 8-1-2 record on the year, with six shutouts, posting a 0.750 save percentage, with a 0.71 goals against average in 11 matches. Panaccione is a junior biology major, making his first appearance on the Academic All-District team.
Patenaude, the senior captain, was an All-Conference Second Team selection this season, tallying nine points with four goals and an assist off 29 shots, with 19 landing on goal. Patenaude is graduating with a degree in marketing.
A management major, Robbins led the team in points this season, scoring a team high 20 points through 21 games, making 15 starts with six goals and eight assists. Robbins put .500 of his shots on target, and was responsible for a pair of game-winning goals on the year.
Hamilton played in 20 games for the Hawks with two assists, while putting up 10 shots, with five landing on target. Hamilton is majoring in engineering, and is currently a junior. A defender, Massotti also earned All-District honors after being a staple in the Hawks backline, making 21 starts with an assist on the year. Massotti was a key piece in the Hawks 10 shutouts on the season.
Rounding out the honorees is Blaisdell who was named to the Academic All-District team after the finance major completed his Senior season with eight points, with two goals and four assists, putting 17 of his 34 shot attempts on target.
The Hawks will now await the announcement of the College Sports Communicators Academic All-American team, set too be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 16.
