In the first 3:48 of the game, Roger Williams forced five turnovers and held Gordon to only 1-of-3 shooting in a 12-2 run to open the game, forcing a Fighting Scot timeout.

From there, the Fighting Scots would stage a strong comeback over the follow seven minutes, as Rebecca Carroll (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) and Kim Levinsky (West Caldwell, N.J.) combined for eight of Gordon's points in a 13-2 run the made it a 19-21 deficit with just over five minutes remaining in the half. In the second half, a 7-0 Hawk run helped RWU regain the lead. Atchue would hit a layup of her own to give RWU back the lead, which the Hawks would not give up over the rest of the game due to timely baskets and good defense.
