HENNIKER, N.H. – Roger Williams University's Kamali Webson (Bellingham, Mass) netted the lone goal of the afternoon lifting the Hawks the New England College Pilgrims 1-0 in men's soccer action Saturday afternoon.
With the win the Hawks improve to 4-6-1 overall and 4-1-1 in TCCC play. The loss drops the Pilgrims to 6-5-0 overall and 3-3-0 in conference play.
The two teams would battle through a scoreless opening half of play as the Hawks would supply the only offense of the half out shooting the Pilgrims 6-0.
Roger Williams would break the scoring drought in the 59th minute of play as Webson would head in a corner kick off the foot of Jeff MacDonald (Topsfield, Mass.) putting the Hawks up 1-0.
NEC's best scoring chance came in the 59th minute as forward Aaron Kolb (New Durham, N.H.) would record the lone Pilgrim shot on goal that would be stopped by Hawk keeper Peter Plate (Commack, N.Y.).
The Hawks finished the afternoon out shooting the Pilgrims 10-2.
Picking up the win in goal for Roger Williams was Peter Plate who finished with one save. In goal for NEC was Pat Harkin (Scituate, R.I.) who stopped six shots on the evening.
New England College returns to action on Tuesday, October 5 when they travel to take on conference opponent Wentworth Institute of Technology. Roger Williams will take the field Wednesday, October 6 when they travel to take on conference foe Nichols College.
