Baseball drops two in Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Roger Williams Baseball team suffered a doubleheader sweep to Amherst College Sunday afternoon, falling by the scores of 17-5 and 9-3.

 

Senior Ryan Willette took the loss in the first game, allowing eight runs in 2 1/3 innings. Fellow senior Grant Bolin (Simsbury, Conn.) went 1-for-3 with a triple, a walk, and two runs. Freshman Matthew Roche (Bristol, Conn.) had three hits in four at-bats, including a double and a run, while sophomore Trevor Manzi (Beverly, Mass.) had a homer in two trips to the plate to go along with two RBI.

 

In the second game, junior PJ Gouthro (Walpole, Mass.) suffered the setback, as he gave up seven runs in five innings. Bolin had two hits in the game with a run, while Roche added two hits and a run and an RBI.

 

Roger Williams will play Fontbonne University tomorrow afternoon beginning at 1:00 p.m.
