Women’s Basketball extends win streak, remains undefeated in TCCC

WENHAM, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Women's Basketball team utilized a balanced attack to defeat Gordon 67-40, Wednesday night at the Bennett Center. 

Eleven different players scored for the Hawks, who moved to 11-3 and a league-leading 4-0 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference.  Gordon slipped to 2-14 and is 1-3 in league play.

Gordon held an 8-4 lead after Catey Marshall sank a layup with 14:30 remaining in the first half.  At that point, the Hawks went on a 16-2 run over the next seven minutes, taking a double digit lead.  Gordon cut the lead to 29-20 at the 2:49 mark of the first half, but was unable to get under ten the rest of the way.  In the second half, RWU led by as much as 30 at 58-28.

The Hawks were led in scoring by Kaitlyn Bovee (Berlin, Conn.) who had 13 and Alexandria Lanieri (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) who posted 10.  Paige Congdon (Westwood, Mass.) came off the bench to rip down an incredible 18 rebounds in just 16 minutes of playing time. 

Freshman forward Lauren Kranyak scored 12 points for Gordon, while Kayla Pacheco had eight points and grabbed 11 rebounds.  Clancey Adams and Catey Marshall both had three steals.

Gordon will travel to face Curry at 1:00 p.m. this Saturday, while Roger Williams will look to stay undefeated in the league when they host New England College at the same time.
