ORLANDO, Fla. – The Roger Williams University Baseball fell in both games of a doubleheader against Worcester State College, falling 4-10 in the first game and 3-5 in the second.
Both teams were tied at two apiece at the end of the first inning before Worcester State scored a run in the third to take a 3-2 lead. The Lancers would go on to score at least one run in each inning including a three-run fifth. The Hawks managed two runs in their final inning before
PJ Gouthro (Walpole, Mass.) took the loss in the first game, giving up seven runs (five earned) on ten hits in 4.2 innings of work. Zach Porter (Middleboro, Mass.) finished the game with two hits in four at-bats. Mike Pascarella (Milford, Conn.) and Tim Georgen (Bristol, Conn.) each had a base hit and a run scored for the Hawks.
In the second game, the Hawks scored a run in each of the second, third, and fourth innings to go on top 3-0. Worcester State would get all three runs back in the bottom of the fourth, then add runs in the fifth and sixth to take the lead and hold on for the win.
Tony Trafecanty (Franklin, Mass.) took the loss for the Hawks, giving up four runs in 4.2 innings on eight hits. Porter went 2-for-3 in the game with two runs scored. Pascarella and Georgen each had ahit in the game with John Oppenhimer (Westport, Conn.) adding a run scored.
