Hawks Sweep Gordon and Southern Maine in Regular Season Finale

BRISTOL, R.I.Roger Williams Volleyball sweeps Gordon ( ) and Southern Maine ( ) in final regular season tri-match.  The Hawks improve to 19-10 overall and 7-1 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference, the Fight Scots of Gordon split their contest and are 16-15 overall and 2-6 in the CCC, and Southern Maine ended the day winless and dropping to 9-22 on the season.

Four Hawks reached double digit kills on the day; senior outside hitter Kelsey Twarog (Barkhamsted, Conn.) tallied 21 kill on 38 attempts, senior outside hitter Abby Cunningham (Catasauqua, Pa.) chipped in 16 kills on 24 attempts, junior Krystie Luczynski (Kensington, Conn.) added 11 kills on 19 attempts, and sophomore Andrea Gorman finished with 10 kills on 25 attempts.

A trio of setters handled the distribution of assist.  Freshman Nicole Weber (Poulsbo, Wash.) distributed 22 assists with senior Emily Lebowitz (Coventry, Conn.) and junior Alexa Armenti (Dix Hills, N.Y.) added 19 assist each.

Senior Libero Kelsee Loche (Millis, Mass.) led the defensive effort with 31 digs while freshman outside hitter Elizabeth Flaherty (Sloatsburg, N.Y.) chipped in 18 digs.

With the win over Gordon the Hawks secures the top seed in the conference tournament and earns a bye in Tuesday's quarterfinal round.  RWU will be back in action on Thursday November 1st hosting the winner of the Western New England vs. University of New England quarterfinal match.
