BRISTOL, R.I. – With the release of the field of 64 for the NCAA Volleyball Tournament, the Roger Williams University Women's Volleyball has found out that the team's opponent will be Springfield College and will play at the host site of Connecticut College.
Springfield enters the tournament with a 26-7 record with wins over Hawk common opponents Endicott, Johnson & Wales, and Keene State. Springfield earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament after falling to MIT 1-3 in the NEWMAC Semifinals.
The Hawks last faced off against Springfield last season in the Pride's season-opening home tournament. Springfield picked up a 3-1 win over the Hawks.
Roger Williams earned the bid to the tournament via the automatic bid after winning their fourth consecutive Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship. The Hawks enter the tournament on a four-match winning streak and having won eight of their last nine matches.
MIT will also be in the same region as Roger Williams and Springfield, and will face UMass-Boston in their opening round match. The remaining matchups in the bracket include Bowdoin against Emerson and Framingham State against Connecticut College.
The tournament will begin on Friday, with the Hawks taking on Springfield at 3:00 p.m.
