In the first inning, Mike Pascarella (Milford, Conn.) and John Oppenhimer (Westport, Conn.) reached on one-out singles. Trevor Manzi (Beverly, Mass.) would follow with an RBI single through the left side on a hit-and-run play to score Pascarella and put the Hawks on top 1-0.
In the following inning, Eric Bransfield got on with a leadoff bunt single down the third base line. Mike Thomas (Plainville, Conn.) then brought in Bransfield with an RBI triple to deep right field. The Hawks added one more in the third with Pascarella scoring from third on a wild pitch with two outs.
