| Box Score 2

BRISTOL, R.I. –Montclair State University captured the 2012 (Roger Williams)/Turfer Athletic Classic Championship over the Roger Williams University Men's Soccer team with a 2-1 win over the Hawks Sunday afternoon. In the consolation game, Baruch College and Fitchburg State University tied for third place after playing to a 2-2 double overtime stalemate.

In the championship game, there was chippy play by both teams, as each squad looked to capture the classic title. Neither team was able to get on the scoreboard in the first half, but not for lack of effort. Montclair State had a solid chance to score in the final minute of the period, with Sam Katz (Livingston, N.J.) and Lucas Terci (Union, N.J.) both firing shots that found the body of (Roger Williams) defenders.

In the second half, the Hawks were first to strike, with Trevor Hoxsie (Scarborough, Maine) putting (Roger Williams) on the board in the 57th minute with his fourth goal of the weekend. Bradley Macdonald (Topsfield, Mass.) sent a long pass to Hoxsie on the run, who corralled the ball in the box and sent a short chip into the net.

The Hawks' lead would not last long, as Brian Cullen (Clementon, N.J.) put in a pass from Maxx Wurzburger (Glen Rock, N.J.) less than two minute later off of a deflected save that just trickled in.

Montclair State would take the lead in the 76th minute, with Dan Mendoza (Hackensack, N.J.) feeding Terci a pass into the middle of the box, which he converted for the eventual game-winner. The Red Hawks were to hold on to the advantage and maintain the lead for the win.

Anthony Rogic (Boonton, N.J.) picked up the win, making two saves in the game. Jon Pelloso (Wilbraham, Mass.) took the loss for (Roger Williams), making five stops for the Hawks.

In the consolation game, Baruch wasted little time getting on the board, as Oren Kozlowski (Tulsa, Okla.) dribbled down the right side, making his way in and scoring the first goal of the game in the second minute.

The Bearcats' lead held on until the 29th minute, when Kenneth Kelly (Marstons Mills, Mass.) converted a penalty kick for Fitchburg State to tie the game at one apiece.

Colin Shea (Hanover, Mass.) put the Falcons on top in the 51st minute with a shot across the box that Baruch's Helder Correia (Carle Place, N.Y.) attempted to make a leaping two-handed save on. Correia nearly caught the shot, but it slipped out his hands and rolled into the net to give Fitchburg State the lead.

Baruch would tie the game in the 59th minute, with Kozlowski taking a cross from Arlind Stafaj (Staten Island, N.Y.) and putting in the equalizer. From that point on, neither team had solid opportunities to tie the game either in regulation or the overtime periods.

Aidan Hanratty (East Bridgewater, Mass.) made ten saves for Fitchburg, while Baruch's Peter DiBona (Middle Village, N.Y.) saved five shots. Correia was credited with the tie.
