Men’s Soccer downed by WNE in CCC Championship

Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Men's Soccer had its bid for its first Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship since 2006 halted by Western New England University in a 2-0 loss Saturday afternoon.

Western New England earns the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament and will find out its opponent on Monday. Roger Williams (15-5-2) will find on Monday as well if its resumé is enough to earn an at-large NCAA bid.

Western New England is making its first NCAA III Men's Soccer Championship appearance since 2011 and eighth in program history.

The Golden Bears got all the offense they would need in the 14th minute on a goal by freshman Brandon Bolger, and Chad Barrett added an unassisted tally for insurance in the 54th.

Western New England keeper Domenick Villano stopped four shots in the win for the Golden Bears. Jon Pelloso (Wilbraham, Mass.) made five saves for the Hawks in the loss.
