Men’s Soccer edges Wheaton

Box Score NORTON, Mass. – Wheaton College had its five-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday evening at Keefe Field as the Roger Williams University Men's Soccer team earned a 2-1 victory over the Lyons in non-conference action.

Hawks' senior forward Trevor Hoxsie (Scarborough, Maine) deposited back-to-back goals early in the first half including the eventual game-winner in the 29th minute for his team-leading ninth and tenth goals, respectively.

Wheaton took an early 1-0 advantage at the 20:06 mark as junior Scott Enman (Brooklyn, N.Y.) tipped home a rebound off of a shot by teammate Adam Sholi (Sandwich, Mass.) for his second goal of the season.

Hoxsie evened the score 37-seconds later netting a free kick just outside the box into the lower right corner of the net. Nearly eight minutes after his first marker of the game, Hoxsie sniped the game-winning goal into the opposite corner as he worked his possession from the left flank into the box against a one-on-one situation.

The Lyons outshot their guests 27-12 in the contest and held a 5-2 differential in corner kicks. Roger Williams junior goalkeeper Tom Mangels (Garden City, N.Y.) made a game-high nine saves, while Wheaton sophomore goalkeeper Matt Dickey (Newton, Mass.) recorded three stops.

Wheaton (7-2) travels to WPI on Saturday, September 28 for a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) matchup at 5 p.m. Roger Williams (8-1) heads to Salve Regina on Saturday for a 3 p.m. start.
