Volleyball set to take on Western Connecticut State in NCAA Tournament

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women's Volleyball team is set face Western Connecticut State University Friday evening at 5:30 p.m. in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Hawks will head down to Hoboken, New Jersey to Stevens Institute of Technology, who will be the hosts of the Hoboken Regional for the tournament.

Roger Williams enters the tournament having won seven matches in a row, as well as the program's sixth consecutive Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship. The Hawks boast the conference player of the year in junior Elizabeth Flaherty and the conference rookie of the year in Josalyn Benson.

This year, Roger Williams notched its seventh straight 20-win season, as well as its sixth straight NCAA Tournament berth. Last season, RWU won its first NCAA Tournament match in program history, a 3-0 victory over St. Joseph's (LI).

Western Connecticut State (25-10) punched their ticket to the tournament after capturing the Little East Conference Tournament championship on Sunday with a 3-1 victory over Eastern Connecticut State University. The championship for the Colonials is their sixth LEC title in program history. This will be the first-ever meeting between these two teams.
