BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Baseball team suffered its first losses of the season, falling in a doubleheader to Bowdoin College by the scores of 3-7 and 2-6.

In the opener, the Polar Bears tagged the Hawks for three runs in the first inning, in part by a two-RBI trip by Peter Cimini. Bowdoin added one more in the third before Cimini helped spark a three-run fifth with a two-RBI double.

The Hawks made a small run in the sixth, with Jamie Timothy (Cohasset, Mass.) and Chris Travers (East Freetown, Mass.) notching RBI hits in the inning, but the four-run deficit proved to be too much to overcome.

Dan Julian (Stratford, Conn.) suffered the loss for RWU, allowing all seven runs in four innings of work. Timothy finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Travers and Mike Thomas (Plainville, Conn.) were each 1-for-3 with an RBI.

In the second game, Bowdoin led 2-0 going into the bottom of the fourth, when Timothy scored on a misplay in left. He would tie the game in the next inning, knocking in Neal Hart (Franklin, Mass.) in the bottom of the fifth.

In the sixth, Bowdoin took the lead for good on a three-RBI double from Kyle LeBlanc. The Polar Bears added one more in the seventh to hold on for the four-run win.

Eric Diffily (North Reading, Mass.) took the loss, giving up three runs in four innings. Mike Pascarella (Milford, Conn.) notched a pair of hits in the game, while Timothy was 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI.

Roger Williams (4-2) will face Colby-Sawyer next on Thursday.
