Box Score 2 WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Roger Williams University Baseball team moved to 4-0 with a sweep of Daniel Webster College Sunday afternoon, winning 6-2 in the opener and a 7-6 8-inning win in the second game.
In the opener, the Hawks plated three runs in the first two innings on RBI base hits by
Jamie Timothy (Cohasset, Mass.),
Bryan Terzian (Westport, Conn.), and
Kevin Baker (Wilbraham, Mass.). RWU added one more run in the fifth on an RBI single by
Trevor Larson (Northbridge, Mass.) and two on
Caulin Rogers' two-RBI double in the fifth.
Daniel Webster threatened to come back in the top of the seventh, getting two runs and putting runners at first and second with two outs. However,
Tyler Pogmore (Lebanon, Conn.) was able to get the final Eagle batter to strike out swinging for the save.
A.J. Bashaw (Norton, Mass.) picked up the win, going 6.2 innings while allowing one run with three strikeouts. Terzian and
Reid Nelson (Wallingford, Conn.) each went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
The second game saw the Hawks fall behind 6-1 going into the top of the seventh. RWU was able to mount a five-run rally in the inning, taking advantage of an error and a couple defensive miscues to tie the game and send it into extra innings.
In the top of the eighth,
Mike Thomas (Plainville, Conn.) came through with the game-winning RBI single, bringing home Timothy for the winning run.
Tyler Campo (Wrentham, Mass.) earned his first career victory, pitching a pair of innings of relief with four strikeouts. Pogmore earned his third save of the year with a scoreless eighth. Timothy was 3-for-5 with two runs scored, while Baker was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run.
