Salem State slips past Baseball

Box Score SALEM, Mass. – Salem State edged the Roger Williams University Baseball team 8-7 in a competitive game on a sunny Tuesday afternoon at Salem State's Central Campus Baseball Field. Salem State is now 10-10 on the year while Roger Williams slips to 14-5.

Pete Gonski (East Lyme, Conn.) pitched four innings of two-hit relief, and Kyle McElroy (Newburyport, Mass.) went 3-for-4 with three runs scored to help Salem State.
The Hawks struck for two runs in the first when Mike Pascarella (Milford, Conn.) and Caulin Rogers (Gloucester, Mass.) opened the game with back-to-back singles. Following a sacrifice bunt, Chris Travers (East Freetown, Mass.) knocked a base hit up the middle that gave Roger Williams the early lead.
The Vikings countered in the second when Mike Lamothe (Beverly, Mass.) brought Kyle McElroy (Newburyport, Mass.) home with an RBI single.
