Hazard Field.
Â
The Hawks (8-8-1, 4-5 CCC) will be seeded sixth for the upcoming CCC Championship and await word on where they will travel for a quarterfinal-round game Saturday. UNE concludes its season with an overall mark of 4-15-0, 1-8 in conference play.
Â
Both of Kuchenbecker's tallies came on similar plays. He gave Roger Williams the margin for victory in the 13th minute when he received a long through-ball from
Sean Janson (Avon, Conn.) and directed a low shot from the right side of the box just inside the far post. His second-half marker in the 54th minute came after
Chris Chieffo (North Haven, Conn.) slotted a perfect ball from the center of the field towards the right side. Kuchenbecker ran it down, took a few touches and drove a shot into the left side of the goal.
Â
Nick Nelson (Madison, Conn.) had three saves to record the shutout. His best stop of the afternoon came in the 84th minute when he lunged to his right to deny a scoring bid by UNE's Dan Good (/Hampden, Maine).
Â
Nate Diffin (York, Maine) was credited with two saves in 77:19 of playing time for the Nor'easters. Tom Benoit (Scituate, Mass.) came on to make pair of stops the rest of the way.
