Men’s Soccer drops match to Western New England

Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Western New England rallied against the Roger Williams University Men's Soccer team with a hard-earned 2-1 victory Saturday (Oct. 3) at Suprenant Field.
 
The Golden Bears rallied from a 1-0 deficit when Neil Williams netted the equalizer in the 57h minute.
 
Maurice Young delivered the game-winner in the 71st minute with his first goal of the season.
 
Western New England's defense did its job after that keeping the Hawks off the board to please a large crowd attending the Homecoming match.
 
Trevor Sparda (Scarborough, Maine) kicked things off with a goal at 17:33 from Chris Chieffo (North Haven, Conn.) to give the Hawks an early 1-0 lead.
 
Kevin Strobel made four saves for Western New England while Carsten Frederickson (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) stopped five shots for Roger Williams.
 
The Golden Bears evened their record at 5-5 and improved to 4-0 in the conference. The Hawks are now 4-6 and 1-3 in the CCC.
