Connecticut College downs Women’s Basketball

Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. – Connecticut College notched a road victory over the Roger Williams University Women's Basketball team, defeating the Hawks Tuesday evening by a 85-71 margin.

The Camels have now earned back-to-back wins over the Hawks, with the series even at 3-3 over the past six matchups.

Connecticut College held the lead for most of the contest, going up 18-13 after the first quarter, then taking a 42-33 lead into halftime. Roger Williams managed to come back from an 11-point deficit in the third quarter to tie the game at 58 apiece on a three-point play by Stephanie Bramante (Stoneham, Mass.). However, Conn's Jenna Lovett (Tolland, Conn.) score the final basket of the period to put the Camels back on top.

Roger Williams managed to tie the game on two separate occasions in the fourth quarter. However, RWU was done in by an 12-1 run late in the period that saw the Camels take 76-65 with 3:21 to play. The hole would be too deep for RWU to climb out, as Connecticut College left with the win.

Payton Ouimetter (Medfield, Mass.) finished with a game-high 21 points, 11 rebounds, and five steals. Kyle Caouette (Ashburnham, Mass.) finished with 16 points, while Liz Malman (Mendham, N.J.) added 14 points and four boards.

Katie Lowerre (Sharon, Mass.) scored 18 points with five rebounds for RWU. Mariah Nicholas (Achushnet, Mass.) chipped in with 15 points and four boards. Bridget Quilty (Duxbury, Mass.) flirted with a triple-double, going for ten points, eight rebounds, and eight blocks.

Roger Williams (2-3) will resume play after the Thanksgiving break on Sunday, when the Hawks host in-state rival Rhode Island College. Connecticut College (3-0) heads to Suffolk University on Sunday as well.
