Box Score 2 LAKELAND, FLA. - The Roger Williams University Baseball team split a doubleheader with Suffolk taking the first game 6-2 and dropping the second 2-3 in 12 innings. The Hawks overall record stands at 2-8 while Suffolk is now 4-5.
Game 1 - RWU 6 - SUF 2
The Hawks put the first run on the board in the bottom of the second. Junior
Shawn Cariglio reached first base on a fielder choice. Cariglio put himself into scoring position by stealing second and third while
Chris Travers (East Freetown, Mass.) picked up a walk that put runners on the corners. Junior
Kevin Baker (Wilbraham, Mass.) drove a sacrifice fly to right field that scored Cariglio and gave the Hawks 1-0 lead.
Suffold managed their first run in the top of the third inning to bring the contest to 1-1.
The Hawks answered in bottom of that inning byscoring four runs while sending ten batters to the plate. Freshman
Jimmy Goober (Burlington, Mass.) and junior
Jamie Timothy (Cohasset, Mass.) drew walks to start the inning. Freshamn
Jimmy Smith (Walpole, Mass.) loaded the bases with an infield hit and sophomore
Caulin Rogers (Gloucester, Mass.) picked up an RBI on a fielder's choice. Nelson ran out his second infield hit and Carglio picked up his first RBI of day with a single that scored Timothy. Rogers and Cariglio crossed home on a Ram error to bring the game to 5-1
The Hawks would add another in the bttom of the fourth and Rams would score again in the top of the 7th to bring the final score to 6-2.
Junior
Troy DeLeon (East Hampton, Conn.) gave up four hits on seven innings of work while striking out seven for the win.
Game 2 - RWU 2 - SUF 3
The Hawks took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the second. Cariglio picked up a walk to open the inning and advanced to second on a Baker single. Freshman
Matt Moskal (Hamden, Conn.) drove in Cariglio and advanced Baker to third base for the first run. Goober reached first on an error and scored Baker for their second run.
The Rams answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning and then tied it up in the bottomof the fourth.
The game remained knotted through regulation before Suffolk broke the deadlock with the final run in the twelfth inning.

The Hawks return to action to take on the Polar Bears of Bowdoin College in Lakeland, Fla. at Tenoroc High School.
