Roger Williams University to hire James Greenslit as Men’s Soccer Head Coach

BRISTOL, R.I. - The Roger Williams University Athletic Department has announced the hire of James Greenslit as the next Head Coach of the Men's Soccer program.
 
"We are very excited and thrilled to have someone of James' pedigree to take over our successful men's soccer program," said Dave Kemmy, Director of Athletics. "His blend of experience as an assistant coach at Division I and Division III and as a highly accomplished player in Division III made him a great fit for our athletic program. His passion for the game and for working with collegiate athletes was very evident and we are looking forward to his joining us this summer."
 
Greenslit will come to Roger Williams after spending the past three seasons and five seasons total at Wheaton College (Mass.). This past season, Greenslit helped guide the Lyons to a 17-4-2 record and an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, where Wheaton advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season.
 
In Greenslit's five seasons with Wheaton, the team compiled a record of 73-27-10 with one NEWMAC Championship and two NCAA Tournament appearances.
 
Greenslit also served as a Division I assistant at College of the Holy Cross for two years and Northeastern University in 2007 and 2008. During his tenure at Northeastern, the Huskies posted 16 shutouts while advancing to the 2008 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Tournament Championship game.
 
In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Greenslit is coach of the F.C. Greater Boston Bolts U17 team, as well as serving as Director of Coaching and Facilities Directory of the organization.
 
Greenslit graduated from Wheaton (Mass.) in 2006 with a degree in economics. He is the only three-time All-American in Wheaton College men's soccer history, being named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference first teams every year during that stretch, He is a two-time NEWMAC Player of the Year, as well as a three-year member of the Wheaton Men's Basketball team.
 
Following his Wheaton career, Greenslit played for the New England Revolution's reserve squad in 2006 before suiting up for the New Hampshire Phantoms and the Western Mass. Pioneers of the United Soccer Leagues' (USL) Second Division in 2007 and 2008, respectively.
 
Greenslit will begin his post at Roger Williams University on August 1.
