The Hawks take two from Montclair State

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Auburndale, FL – The Roger Williams University baseball team took two games from Montclair State at the RussMatt Invitational on Wednesday. The Hawks won 3-1 in the opener and 5-1 in the second contest.

The red hawks, Philip Scott gave MSU a 1-0 lead in the opener as he doubled home Joe Foote with the game's first run. But that would be just one of three hits in the game for Montclair State as Troy DeLeon (East Hampton, CT) tossed a complete game, striking out eight.  In the third inning, Jamie Timothy (Cohasset, MA) singled two RBI's, bringing home Jimmy Goober (Burlington, MA) and Bosco. In the fourth inning,  Chris Bosco (North Andover, MA) was hit by a pitch, advancing Adam Dellemonico (Burlington, MA) to second and Liam Smith (Ridgefield, CT) advanced to third. Shawn Carigilio (Milford, CT) scored for the hawks in the fourth inning.

Josh Felix of the red hawks, took the loss for MSU as he went the first four innings.

In the second contest, Roger Williams grabbed the early lead as Kevin Baker (Wilbraham, MA) belted a three-run homer in the first inning. Baker and Shane Nowak (Litchfield, NH) added RBI singles in the third for a 5-0 lead. MSU got on the board in the fifth as Kevin Campbell plated a run with a ground out.

The Hawks take the field Thursday, March 10th at 11am taking on SUNYIT in a double header in Lakeland, FL.
