All around effort leads the hawks over SUNY Poly

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Lakeland, FL-  The Roger Williams University baseball team had another successful day in Lakeland, Fl. as the Hawks took two games from SUNY Poly in their double header on Thursday, March 10th. The Hawks won the first game 9-0 and only allowed one run the second, defeating the Wildcats 9-1.

George Lund (West Hartford, CT) recorded the win for the Hawks. Lund only gave up four hits, had eight strike outs and no walks. Sawyer Haney will take the loss for the Wildcats. Haney allowed four hits, six runs and only two strike outs.

In the second inning the hawks would score their first run of the game. Caulin Rogers (Gloucester, MA) was hit by the pitch which got him on base, Chris Bosco (North Andover, MA) reached on an error by the short stop which advanced Rogers to second base. Shawn Cargilio (Milford, CT) hit into a double play which advanced Rogers to third base. Jimmy Smith (Walpole, MA) reached on an error to bring Rogers home. Jamie Timothy (Cohasset, MA) scored for the hawks in the third inning on a passed ball. The Hawks would score three more runs in the fifth inning. Rogers would steal second base, Bosco singled to center field for Rogers to score the first run of the inning.  Another, stolen base by Cariglio to advance Bosco to home.  Eli Camner (Hamden, CT) doubled to center field for Cariglio to score.  The Hawks defeated the Wildcats 9-0 in the first game of their double header.

The Hawks did not slow down in the second game against the Wildcats. Jimmy Smith recorded the win for the Hawks. Smith allowed seven hits, one run and five strike outs. Jared Muraca takes the loss for the wildcats for six innings. Muraca allowed ten hits, six runs and had four strike outs.

In the fourth inning the Hawks would get five runs on the Wildcats. Bryan Terzian (Westport, CT) singled to center field, Caulin Rogers (Gloucester, MA) doubled to center field to advance Terzian to third base. Shane Nowak (Litchfield, NH) would triple to left field to bring home Terizan and Rogers.  Liam Smith (Ridgefield, CT) singled to right field to score Nowak.

The Hawks would score another three runs in the seventh inning. Bryan Terzian singled to left field, Adam Dellemonico (Burlington, MA) pinch ran for Bryan Terzian. Dellemonico advanced to second base on a passed ball. Kevin Baker (Wilbraham, MA) doubled to left field to score Dellemonico. Liam Smith singled to right field to advance Rogers to second base and Baker to score. Rogers would score on an error by the Wildcats short stop. The Hawks defeated the Wildcats 9-1.

The Hawks last game of their spring break trip, is Saturday, March 12th against The College of New Jersey at 9:15am in Auburndale, FL.
