Box Score Bristol, RI- The Roger Williams University baseball team gave up two runs late in the ninth inning as it dropped a 2-3 decision to Framingham State on Wednesday afternoon on Paolino field.
Framingham State entered the game with an overall record of 2-4 now 3-4, while the Hawks entered the game 7-5-1 coming off of a 17-1 victory over UMASS-Boston the day before.
The Rams totaled three hits, including a 3-for-4 performance and to RBIs by Powers. Started K. Hodgson earned the win for the rams going eight innings, allowing seven hits, one runs and six strike outs.
Roger Williams finished the contest with two hits, with
Matt Moskal going 5-for-3 from the plate. Troy Deleon was charged with the loss, as he lasted 8.1 innings, allowing six hits, three runs and eight strike outs.
The teams battled the first five innings until
Eli Camner (Hamden, CT) homered to left center scoring the first run of the contest and first run for the hawks. The Rams would follow in the seventh inning with a homer from Manny Powers, scoring the first run for the Rams. In the ninth inning for the Rams, Ryan Wardwell singled to left field making it to first base, Aaron Williams pinch ran for Wardwell. A wild pitch advanced Williams to second base before he would then steal third. On a failed pickoff attempt by the hawks, Williams would score a second run for the Rams. For the Rams, Aaron Rios pinch hit for Cam Borrelli. Rios singled up the middle to advance Kyle Pileski to third base. Powers singled to left field to advance Rios to second base and Pileski scored the third and final run for the Rams.
In the bottom of the ninth the Hawks would score their last run of the contest.
Shane Nowak (Litchfield, N.H) pinch hit for
Caulin Rogers (Gloucester, MA) and reached first on an error by the rams short stop.
Chris Bosco (North Andover, MA) singled to second base to advance Nowak to second base.
Jamie Timothy (Cohasset, MA) singled to right center, RBI, to advance Bosco to third and Nowak would score the last run for the Hawks.
