Box Score Northridge, MA- The Roger Williams University Baseball team fell short to Worcester State 2-3. The Lancers came through with a two-out walk-off base hit in the bottom of the 11th inning to score for a 3-2 victory over Roger Williams (7-7-1) at the New England Baseball Complex Friday afternoon.
Senior,
Tyler Campo (Wrentham, MA) will take the loss for the Hawks. Campo allowed seven hits, one run and had seven strike outs, pitching for 7.1 innings. Kevin Valentine will take the win for the Lancers. Valentine allowed seven hits one run and had five strike outs, pitching a total of eight innings.
In the first inning the Hawks were off to a good start.
Chris Bosco (North Andover, MA) hit a single,
Jamie Timothy (Cohasset, MA) grounded out to advance Bosco to second base.
Matt Moskal (Hamden, CT) then grounded out to second base for Bosco to advance to third base.
Kevin Baker (Wilbraham, MA) singled, RBI for Bosco to score for the Hawks. Worcester State would score their first run in the sixth inning by Jake Ryan to tie the game 1-1.
The Hawks scored their second and final run of the game in the tenth inning by
Matt Moskal (Hamden, CT) from a doubled RBI by
Bryan Terizan (Westport, CT) to advance Moskal to home. The Lancers would also score in the tenth inning to again tie the game 2-2 by Matt Sabourin. The Hawks would not score another run for the rest of the game against the Lancers. The Lancers scored the winning run by Dan McGull from a singled, RBI by Matt Sabourin to end the game in the bottom of the eleventh inning.
The Hawks are now 7-7-1 overall.
