Baseball starts off spring break trip 1-3

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Roger Williams University baseball team fell to Mount Union's baseball team  7-8 and 1-7 to The University of Mount Union Friday at Chain O'Lakes Stadium in Winter Haven, Florida.

In game one, the hawks were up by two before Mount Union would come from behind in the sixth innning then pulled out an 8-7 win in the bottom of the seventh.

Roger Williams tied the game in the top of the seventh and the Raiders came back and loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning and Mitchell Lake (Orwell/Grand Valley) drove in the game-winner.

The hawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning but Mount Union got one of those runs back in the bottom of the frame off a RBI.

The Raiders scored a run on a passed ball in the second to tie the game.

The hawks went back out in front on a three-run home run in the third and Mount Union again responded pushing one across on an error in the third to make the score 5-3.

Roger Williams got another run in the fourth and the Raiders also got a run in the inning off a sacrifice fly which left the score 6-4.

AUBURNDALE, Fla. --  The Roger Williams University baseball team had a 1-1 split double header Saturday afternoon at Lake Myrtle Park in Auburndale, Fla. Against No. 24 ranked Ohio Northern.

The Hawks are now 1-3, while the polar bears are 4-4 to start the year.

George Lund led the Hawks to it's first win over ONU. Lund allowed only 3 hits and one run against the polar bears in the first game.

Game one started out as a pitchers dual as both teams only recorded one hit apiece through the first five innings. 

The Hawks bats came alive in the bottom of the fifth inning as they posted a four hit, four run inning and took a 4-0 lead. 

The polar bears closed the gap in the top of the sixth inning as sophomore Jordan Bostater hit an RBI single to center field and scored sophomore Braydon Focht to pull Northern within 4-1.

The Hawks would close the game out from there and take game one.

In game two, Northern was able to get their offense going as they recorded a four hit, four run fourth inning to jump out to a 4-0 lead.

The Polar Bears would end their scoring in the fourth as Small advanced home on a passed ball and pushed the Northern lead to 4-0.

The hawks were able to pull within 4-2 before ONU closed the door.

The Hawks are back in the mound Monday, March 7th at 2:30pm to face off against Iowa Wesleyan.
